Talent Connect Spring 2012

What Is It?

Talent Connect is a “job fair” event intended primarily to connect 20-25 participating companies with Job Seekers.  Job Seekers will have the opportunity to “Speed Pitch” themselves (present an overview of themselves within 90 seconds) to company representatives. There will also be a keynote speaker, as well as an economic forum of representatives from local cities (prior event included Cedar Park, Leander, Taylor, and Pflugerville).

Who Should Attend?

  1. Job Seekers interested in connecting with the participating companies
  2. Job Seekers interested in enhancing and practicing their Speed Pitch and interviewing skills.
  3. Individuals interested in hearing about anticipated economic development in the Austin area during 2012 and beyond, and in hearing the keynote speaker.

When and Where Will The Event Be Held?

The Event is scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2012, at Hill Country Bible Church.  

 What Is The Event Program?

            8:30 a.m. – 9:00: Job Seeker Speed Pitch Practice With Coaches

            9:00 a.m. – 11:00: Presentations (Keynote Speaker, Economic Forum)

            11:00 a.m. – 12:30: Job Seeker Speed Pitches To Participating Companies

            12:30 p.m. – 1:30: Lunch Break (lunch provided for companies only)

            1:00 p.m. – 3:00: Follow-up Interviews (Optional - at company discretion)

 

What Volunteers Will Be Needed?

The leadership team, Craig Foster (Director of Job Seekers) and Tom Gardner, will need volunteers to assist with the following:

  • Web Site development
  • Internet research of companies
  • Publicity (Press Releases, getting on newspaper’s calendars)
  • Company Callers: recruiting companies to participate
  • Day-Of-Event
    • Set-up: Four areas, arranging tables and chairs
    • Registration: manning check-in table, issuing badges
    • Speed Pitch Coaches: coaching Job Seekers on their Speed Pitch
    • Monitors: timing speed pitches to manage lines
    • Lunch Setup: organizing provided lunches for companies
    • Cleanup: put away chairs, tables, general cleanup

 

Volunteers who also wish to Speed Pitch to the participating companies will be provided with preferred tickets for earlier time slots.
